As painter I enjoy sharing my perspective of the world with everyone around me. Having several decades of painting experience, I continually focus on my craft and growth as an artist. My paintings reflect little color restrictions and boundaries which allows for opportunities where I can guide the viewer through a paths of lines, values, textures and colors that reveal the subjects and moments in time.
As simplistic as it may sound there are also many hidden challenges in creating art. Painting is very much like playing a game of chess. With every move there are rewards and consequences. As subtle as they may appear, each brush stroke will determine the next move and ultimately the final outcome of a painting. As a painter you must constantly be aware of not only of your next move but several steps ahead to avoid a checkmate that can betray the artists vision.
As a visual artist I try to paint what I know, familiarity allows greater freedom for creative flow. Often I do not seek out the subjects I enjoy painting the most, instead they present themselves to me, crossing my path in some way or another. Many times when my creative energy is at its highest I experience fleeting moments where my eyes transform what I see into a living painting, all the elements jump out at me. It’s a brief moments where I can clearly see what’s in front of me as if they are colorful brushstrokes on canvas. It is those moments in time that have always fueled me to paint and share the beauty of what I see with everyone around me.
